Call for safer casinos

The GMB general union is calling on casino operators to impose lifetime bans on anyone who harasses or attacks casino staff, following an incident in which a customer sprayed himself and workers with petrol.

It also wants the gambling authorities to withhold licences from operators who have not demonstrated their staff protection policies and training procedures.

Although staff are frequently threatened and verbally abused by customers, there are currently no guidelines on their protection.
