TES finally recognises NUJ again

Media union the NUJ has won back recognition for 112 journalists on the Times Educational Supplement and related titles, after losing it 15 years ago when the publications were owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Following several weeks of negotiations with TSL Education, which was sold by Murdoch at the end of last year, the union secured recognition in a ballot of members last month. More than 95% of those voting backed the move, in a turnout of almost 80%.

“We now have the security of genuine union representation at a time of great upheaval and change,” said Simon Terry, father of chapel at the supplements. “We’re looking forward to a fruitful partnership with our new management.”
