NUT warns workers to get adequate car insurance

Workers who use their own vehicle in their job should be properly insured, according to the NUT teachers’ union.

Some teachers use their cars during work time to attend work-related meetings, transport pupils or drive between schools. This will be counted as “business use” for insurance purposes, regardless of the mileage involved.

New NUT guidance, which covers car insurance alongside other issues such as mobile phone use and the need for rest breaks, can be downloaded from www.data.teachers.org.uk/resources/pdf/Vehicles_-_4367_1_3_A4.pdf
