USDAW delivers training at DHL

Distribution company DHL and retail union USDAW have opened a learning centre to improve essential skills at the firm’s depot for the Morrison’s supermarket chain at Prologis Park in Coventry.

Equipped with the latest IT equipment, the centre offers a range of courses to the site’s 300 staff, and three union learning reps provided by USDAW will enrol colleagues and encourage them back into learning.

“Many of the people here left school at 16 and haven’t stepped back into a classroom since,” explained learning rep Daljit Lal, who himself has taken a literacy qualification through the union. “Our mission is to make learning fun and develop self-confidence.”

Courses at the centre, which was opened on National Learning at Work Day last month, will be delivered by North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.
