CWU is all fired up at BT

The CWU communication workers' union is supporting a national recruitment drive for volunteer fire wardens at telecoms giant BT.

Under the regulations covering fire risk assessments, employers have a legal duty to ensure that properly trained fire wardens are present in all workplaces.

The fire wardens' training will cover the safe evacuation of allocated floor areas, alarms, fire fighting equipment, fire doors, escape routes and provisions for all workers and visitors, including those needing extra assistance.
