Technicolor pay award gets green light at last

Workers at Technicolor Film Laboratory have finally secured a pay rise for 2006, with across-the-board increases of 3.5% in basic pay as well as shift and overtime payments.

Two rounds of redundancies last year delayed talks on the pay award, as members of the film and broadcasting union BECTU agreed that their reps should focus on negotiating good redundancy packages for employees losing their jobs.

The award, which is backdated to April 2006, was endorsed unanimously at a branch meeting this month. BECTU says that it will commence negotiations on this year's pay settlement "very soon".
