HSE bars Falcon cranes

Falcon Crane Hire has been told to take down 180 tower cranes, after one collapsed and killed a construction worker last month.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) served a prohibition notice on the firm a day after the Battersea Crane Disaster Action Group (BCDAG) called for a national ban on the use of its cranes.

BCDAG secretary Liliana Alexa, whose son was killed last year, said: "I cannot believe that another innocent human being has suffered the same fate as my son. We urgently need more robust legislation on crane safety."
