TUC looks to international organising

Union organising must take a quantum leap forward to face up to the challenge of globalisation, according to TUC deputy general secretary Frances O'Grady.

Speaking at a conference on "Organising in the context of global capital", she said: "Unions must begin to work together across international borders to take on its worst excesses."

She urged unions to move beyond traditional union strongholds and create new union bases in both the developed and developing world, adding that efforts to organise migrant workers in this country must be stepped up.
