Tube ticket-office closures will threaten safety

Plans by London Underground to close or reduce the opening hours of ticket offices will put workers and passengers at risk, according to the RMT rail union.

“For the public, [these moves] will mean less security and fewer staff to deal with emergencies and ticketing problems,– said general secretary Bob Crow. “For our members they mean more lone working, ticket disputes, assaults and stress.–

The RMT has already warned that it will fight the proposals, with industrial action if necessary.
