Migrants get health and safety training

The Community union has persuaded clothing manufacturer Courtaulds to give special safety training to its growing number of eastern European migrant staff.

The union proposed an action plan of courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), which also cover health and safety issues and support the integration of new workers into the workplace and community. Courtaulds has agreed to provide paid relief for new starters to attend the on-site courses, which are provided by a local college.
