Acas sets up disability forum

THE Acas employment relations service is to set up a Disabled People’s Involvement Forum to help ensure fairness and disability equality in its work. Acas says it wants to involve disabled people in its policies and decision-making to ensure disability issues are understood.

It is seeking six disabled people, including those who have experience of representing disabled people’s issues in a work or trade union role and will be interviewing for the positions later this month.

Chris Sherwood, access and diversity manager at the Scope disability charity, said Scope fully endorsed the Acas initiative, which he described as an “important opportunity to engage disabled people to develop thinking around disability equality in the workplace.”
