Bus drivers doing better

Driver pay at Arriva and Stagecoach in Yorkshire is showing the sector’s traditional resilience to recession. At Arriva, drivers received 4.5% in the second stage of a two-year agreement giving an hourly rate of £9.78 for experienced drivers.

At Stagecoach in Yorkshire, drivers on different grades received amounts varying from 2.5% to 4.3% in the final stage of a four-stage 21-month agreement. Drivers’ pay has gone up between 9.3% and 14.2% over the two years of the agreement.
