Support for redundant Woolworths workers

Shopworkers’ union Usdaw is working with government agencies and local colleges to ensure that former Woolworths staff can access training and other retail jobs. It is also recommending them to prospective employers.

Usdaw has been working with local colleges to offer free Skills for Life training for redundant Woolworths workers. Staff at City and Islington College in London visited several London stores prior to closure to tell employees about a free two-week training course providing advice on getting back to work including job hunting, CV writing and interview techniques. The college has also set up a helpline offering advice and support, on 020 7700 9290.
