Guidance on flooding

The CWU communication workers’ union has circulated updated advice to safety reps on flooding, following Met Office warnings of heavy rainfall.

The CWU guidance notes predictions that global warming will mean “more frequent” episodes of severe flooding in the UK.

The union advises safety reps to “be prepared”, by negotiating a major incident plan, briefing members about unsafe conditions (including driving) and make use of official guidance. It recommends new Environment Agency practical advice guides on what to do before, during and after a flood.
