Chemical hazard consultation

The HSE has opened a consultation on the proposed Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009 – to be known as CHIP 4.

The current CHIP Regulations have to be amended because of the European Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures, known as the CLP Regulation. The HSE wants to know if the changes will cause organisations any difficulties, and what the estimated costs and benefits of CHIP 4 are likely to be.

The closing date for responses is 13 February 2009. Consultation documents are at http://www.hse.gov.uk/consult/condocs/cd220.htm
