NHS diversity monitoring

NHS Employers has published a briefing giving advice to NHS organisations on how to monitor the diversity of their workforce.

Monitoring for equality and diversity – what healthcare employers need to know and do looks at what organisations need to do “not merely to comply with legislation, but to make sure that their equality strategies are actually making a difference.”

Systematically collecting and analysing the right information is the first step, it says. It also stresses that staff training on diversity issues, support and commitment from senior staff and “clear and decisive action on discrimination, harassment or bullying” will all contribute to an atmosphere of openness.
