Corrections: Higher education and Morrisons’ pay

Morrisons supermarkets will pay 2% on basic pay in a deal agreed with USDAW, not 1.42% as reported in last month’s magazine (Workplace Report, October 2009, p. 5). The deal also includes improved skill rates for butchers and bakers, an increase in sick pay to 90% from April 2010, and more annual leave for those with five years’ service.

In a separate story (see Workplace Report, October 2009, p. 3), it is only UNISON members in higher education who have voted to accept the 0.5% offer, having rejected the same deal earlier in the year. Other higher education unions, including the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), GMB, UCU lecturers’ union and Unite, have not reached agreement. Talks are continuing.
