Nuclear pay deals

April settlements gave rises of between 1.1% and 3% for workers in different parts of the nuclear industry. The 1.1% rise in basic scales and allowances applied at uranium processor Springfield Fuels, although there are additional profit-sharing payments. While Springfield had a 12-month deal, staff at Magnox Electric (Magnox North and South) started a new three-year deal with an initial rise of 1.8%. Staff at the National Nuclear Laboratory had a 1.25% increase in base salaries and allowances but gained also from the consolidation of a bonus scheme into a pensionable allowance. Workers at the Low Level Waste Repository had a 3% increase.
