Performance pay rises at McDonald’s

“Performance which requires improvement will not qualify for a pay rise,” according to fast-food chain McDonald’s. The company says it rewards hard work and, under its performance management system, it is recognising “significant performance” in 2010 with a 2.5% pay rise and “exceptional performance” with a 4% pay rise.

In restaurants operated directly by McDonald’s, crew members aged 21 or over receive between £5.95 (two pence more than the minimum wage) and £7.00 per hour. A Shift Running Floor Manager aged 21 or over receives between £7.35 and £9.25 per hour. Premiums are paid for some shift patterns and for additional responsibilities.

A company spokesperson told Workplace Report: “We offer employees a range of benefits which include a meal allowance, bonus schemes, 28 days’ holiday per annum, access to a stakeholder pension, life insurance and private healthcare cover.”
