CPI and RPI underestimated from 1997 to 2009

The Bank of England has admitted that the recorded figures for CPI and RPI were lower than they should have been for each year from 1997 to 2009, because the price of imported clothing and footwear was underestimated.

This affects final salary pension scheme members and others whose income is linked to inflation.
