New learning centre opens

Construction union UCATT and housing repairs and maintenance firm Kier North Tyneside have announced the opening this month of a new, state-of-the-art union learning centre in Killingworth, North Tyneside. The centre was made possible through partnership working and joint financing by UCATT and Kier.

Initially offering Skills for Life training opportunities in ICT, maths and literacy for the 460-strong workforce, the learning centre aims to develop a far wider remit over the coming months.

Both the union and Kier are keen to see its learning offering extended to local residents and community groups, as well as the workforces of small and medium-sized companies in Kier’s supply chain.
