Construction deals

The construction industry remains mired in the recession, but some settlements are bucking the trend. While the industry-wide Building and Allied Trades agreement produced an increase of only 1%, the Construction Industry Joint Council agreed 1.5%, and the Plumbing England & Wales JIB increased rates by 3%.

Among suppliers to the industry, Hanson Building Products workers settled for 2.9% after previous pay freezes; Lafarge Cement (Blue Circle) staff got 2.5%; British Gypsum got 3.0%; and Ibstock Brick at Swanage and Nottingham settled at 2.5%.
