Return to Wapping

The NUJ journalists’ union has established its first chapel (workplace branch) within News International’s Wapping offices in east London. The chapel is the first at the plant for 25 years, since it was derecognised by Rupert Murdoch in 1986.

The chapel currently has three officers, and its first act is to take legal action in a bid to protect journalist sources at The Times and The Sunday Times in relation to the phone hacking enquiry by the police.
