London Living Wage deal

Cleaning company Initial Facilities will make the London Living Wage its standard operative rate under a five-stage 41-month harmonisation agreement negotiated with the RMT rail union.

Its commitment applies to staff working under two separate contracts (Control and Eurostar) at St Pancras. Staff at Ebbsfleet, Kent are excluded as it is outside the London Living Wage (LLW) area.

The hourly rates for the lowest paid operatives rise from £6.50 to £8.30 (the 2011 LLW rate) by 1 February 2014, and to the 2014 LLW rate by 1 September 2014. St Pancras supervisors will receive an additional 50p an hour on top.

The deal includes lump sum payments for staff required to “mark time”; one-off transition payments (£50 or £150); enhanced payments during the Olympics; an attendance allowance; and a commitment to reduce temporary labour to a maximum of 20% by 1 November 2012.
