Southampton council

Following the local elections in May when Labour regained control of Southampton City Council, the new leadership have been looking at ways to reverse the pay cuts imposed on the council workforce by the previous Tory administration.

The council have now issued a mini budget which aims to achieve this.

Ian Wooldand, regional co-ordinator for the Unite general union, said the total costing for reversing the pay cuts “is probably just under £3 million and that money has to be found”, but the union believe it is achievable.
