Ten-year deal comes with inflation match

Spirit Aerosystems, the aircraft components manufacturer based at Prestwick in Scotland, has reached a 10-year pay deal with manufacturing union Unite.

The first year pays 2.7% backdated to 1 January 2013. From 2014, each year’s increase will be based on the average increase under the Consumer Prices Index measure of inflation for the previous year, with a minimum increase of 1% and a maximum increase of 4%.

There is also a bonus scheme and a scheme awarding shares in the company to the 476-strong workforce.
