Spanish unions want 3%

Spain’s two main union confederations have asked for pay increases of between 1.8% and 3.0% for 2017, the third year of their current pay pact. The pact recommended increases of 1.0% in 2015 and 1.5% this year, but left the increase in 2017 for later negotiation. The lower 1.8% increase would be above current inflation which is 0.7%. However, the unions argue that a real pay increase is necessary to boost domestic demand.
