Polish postal staff get 3% to 4% pay rise


The Polish post office, Poczta Polska, has agreed an increase with the unions worth between 3% and 4% at a time when prices are rising by 2.5% (November). 


The deal provides for a 100 zł (€24/£21) a month increase for those whose monthly salary is between 3,000 zł (€711/£626) and 3,500 zł (€829/£731) - most delivery workers are in this group. For those whose salary is below 3,000 zł, the increase is 120 zł (€28/£25). This above inflation increase for the post office’s 80,000 employees, backdated to October, follows the introduction of a new bonus system in May 2017. This is producing payments worth around 300 zł (€71/£63) a month. 


The pay increase also reflects the growing pressure on employers in Poland to pay more to retain and recruit staff.
