French TV workers sign first ever deal

Unions in the French television industry have signed the first collective agreement covering their industry after more than two years of negotiations.

Most workers in France are covered by national or regional collective agreements for their industry or sector – overall bargaining coverage is estimated at above 95%. However, this was not the case in the French television industry, which in total employs around 20,000 people. This has now changed, and the new terms will come into force on 1 January 2022.

The new agreement covers all occupations other than journalists and some actors, who already have their own agreements.
