Italian deal halts ‘Black Friday’ strike

An agreement signed by the Italian transport unions and the employers’ association for the delivery sector on 25 November 2021 has resulted in a planned strike at Amazon for “Black Friday”, the day after, being called off. The agreement cuts weekly working hours for drivers from 44 to 42 and guarantees that, where there is a change in subcontractors, workers will continue to be employed and retain their previous protections and benefits. The deal limits the use that can be made of data collected during work in disciplinary procedures, and there is also a results-based payment of €1,100 a year.
