Management Regulations code of practice published

The new approved code of practice (ACOP) to the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 reminds employers of the vital role safety reps play in reducing accidents in the workplace and of the need to consult them in areas including the arrangements for appointing competent people to assist with health and safety.

The ACOP also includes guidance on changes in the area of risk assessment and advice on the health and safety position of self-employed workers. The 1999 regulations came into force at the end of December 1999 and incorporated changes to the 1992 Management Regulations relating to new and expectant mothers, young people and fire precautions.
