Allianz deal in Spain gives rights to agency workers

Unions and management at the Spanish subsidiary of the Allianz insurance group have recently signed a deal which gives increased rights to temporary workers.

The agreement, published last month, runs until 2005 and provides that in all cases where temporary workers are taken on a permanent basis their full previous service in the company will be recognised. This will apply even where they have been working for an agency.

In addition, all employees in each workplace now have the right to participate once a month for an hour in general meetings called by the union.

The deal, which covers 2,100 employees, does not deal with pay, which is covered by a sectoral agreement.
