Walk out over heat

Around 40 workers at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary staged a walk-out in August, arguing it was too hot inside to work. Workers said they had reached breaking point after repeated complaints to management about conditions inside the hospital, which was built with PFI money.

Public services union UNISON said the walk-out had not been organised by them. Tom Waterson, the Unison branch secretary, said: "The problem was not simply caused by the recent hot weather but has been going on for the past 18 months."
