Case 14: The facts

Two doctors signed a partnership agreement. When one became pregnant the other dissolved the partnership. The pregnant doctor claimed sex discrimination. The issue was whether partnerships, with only two partners, were covered by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

The ruling

The EAT ruled that small partnerships were covered by sex discrimination law and one partner could bring a claim against the other.
