CWU takes on The Sun

Communication workers union CWU has challenged the Littlejohn column in The Sun newspaper, which made fun of the use of crash helmets by postal workers. CWU health and safety national officer Dave Joyce wrote to the paper pointing out that over the last decade 10 delivery postal workers have been killed and several hundred suffered non-fatal head injuries in cycle delivery accidents. Since the introduction of cycle helmets over the last year there have been three serious accidents where staff have survived thanks partly to their helmets.
