PCS political work
Members of the PCS civil service union have given the thumbs up to the union’s plan to stand and support candidates in elections, despite not being affiliated to a political party.
Members voted by four to one in favour of expanding the remit of the union’s political fund so that PCS can “support candidates or stand them in elections where it would help us to defend jobs, pensions, pay and public services”.
The result comes after two branch consultations on the question of standing or supporting candidates following a motion at the union’s 2009 annual delegate conference.
