Procurement
New rules for public procurement mean that union recognition by contractors can be taken into consideration by the Scottish government when considering tenders for public contracts.
The Procurement Reform (Scotland) Bill was amended to this effect on its passage through the Scottish Parliament.
It means that any guidance published by the government regarding the awarding of contracts may take “employee representation including trade union recognition” into account in assessing the suitability of a bidder.
