Price rises
The main Czech union confederation, CMKOS, has called for a major demonstration in central Prague on 8 October, to pressure the government to act on rising prices and falling living standards.
This follows a meeting of around 1,000 union officials and activists on 5 September.
Prices are currently rising by 11.7% (August) and are forecast by the ministry of finance to average 16.2% over the year.
