National post strike
Post workers have voted overwhelmingly to hold the first national postal strike in a decade in a long-running dispute over job security and terms and conditions.
Members of the CWU communications union voted to back action by 97% on a turnout of 76% of 110,000 postal workers.
The result is the largest “yes” vote for national industrial action since the passing of the Trade Union Act 2016.
As Labour Research went to press, strike dates had yet to be announced, but could be held to coincide with the annual Black Friday retail sales event in late November and the Christmas post.
