Recognition win at Walkers Snacks

The GMB general union has won recognition at the Peterlee site of Walkers Snack Foods. The agreement covers all hourly paid staff including engineers, technicians, site services operatives, general operatives and quality assistants, but excludes all office staff, frontline management and agency/temporary workers .

Two hundred and seven workers, or 65.7% of those voting, supported the proposal that the GMB should be recognised by the employer and 108 workers, or 34.3% of those voting, had voted to reject the proposal. The proportion of workers constituting the bargaining unit who supported the proposal was 58.6%.

Walkers is part of the Pepsico multinational group and the Peterlee site in Sunderland is predominantly involved in producing crisps.
