Disabled talent award

The Home Office has been singled out in recognition of its recruitment and retention of disabled talent. It is the first organisation to be awarded “Proud to be Clear Assured” status, which is part of an assessment programme to help organisations identify barriers to the recruitment of disabled people.

The Home Office scored particularly highly for its level of support for disabled candidates and for using alternative assessment methods, such as work trials or working interviews.

Ravi Chand, head of equality and diversity at the Home Office, said the government department was going through a lot of internal redeployment. “That’s why it is vital to ensure that all our recruitment and retention processes are of the highest standard and becoming Clear Assured further demonstrates our disability confidence,” he said.
