Pensions action

The lack of progress over the requirement for firefighters to work longer and pay more for their pensions (see Labour Research, November 2013, page 5) prompted further strike action last month.

Members of the FBU firefighters’ union are now being urged to vote for other forms of action on non-strike days to “supplement but not replace” the existing strike ballot.

Whereas strike action has been taking place in England and Wales, the latest ballot includes all members in England, Scotland and Wales.
