Data Protection Bill

The new Data Protection Bill is proceeding through Parliament, the second reading having taken place on 10 October 2017.

The Bill is intended to update the UK’s data protection regime and will replace the Data Protection Act 1998.

It will work alongside the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will apply from May 2018 until Brexit. The government then plans to incorporate the GDPR into UK law.
