Faith in the union

The Community union is encouraging workers in faith institutions to join its new Community Faith Workers’ branch.

Reverend Chris Wilson, the branch secretary, says that “like any other workers we can find difficulties with our employer, in our workplaces”, such as bullying and stress.

In particular, “workplace security, working with the most vulnerable individuals in our community, sometimes alone, sometimes late at night, brings with it particular and very real risks to our own health, safety and welfare”.

He also says the union is campaigning for “better mental health in the workplace and beyond”.
