Teachers' union backs ethnic minority project

The NUT teachers' union has forged "a ground-breaking partnership" with the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) in Nottingham, to set up the first development programme for ethnic minority teachers.

From the autumn "Equal Access to Promotion" programmes, with a total of 150 places, will be held in Bristol, Grantham, London, Newcastle and Nottingham.

NUT general secretary Doug McAvoy said: "For too long, too many minority ethnic teachers have hit the glass ceiling when they have sought promotion."
