Victimised whistleblowers

Edited by Sarah Friday, London Hazards Centre, 32 pages, £1.00

This booklet provides a privileged insight into the disastrous effects of the privatisation of the rail industry. It is written by reps who protected the health and safety of rail workers and passengers in the face of harassment, bullying and victimisation by train companies such as South West Trains and Connex.

Sarah Friday and Greg Tucker from rail union RMT and Laurie Holden from train drivers' union ASLEF were all victimised for their activities as safety reps. Their conclusion that workplaces need strong union organisation is a vital lesson drawn from their experiences.
