Success over spy in cab

A dispute over the use of a vehicle tracking device at the lift and escalator firm Kone has been resolved after Unite members escalated their strike action.

Unite members took continuous strike action over the use of the tracking technology at the end of May, following on from a series of one-day strikes in April.

Unite had queried the reliability of the data provided by the devices, which was being used to monitor workers’ movements and verify timesheets. Despite these concerns, Kone had said it would use the data for disciplinary purposes.

The agreement hammered out at the conciliation service Acas introduces safeguards governing the use of the trackers, ensuring that it accurately records and measures workloads.
