Call for Welsh enforcement forum

Last month the Wales TUC called for a new national enforcement forum to coordinate workplace health and safety compliance and enforcement activity once lockdown is eased.

“We know that unionised workplaces are safer,” said Wales TUC general secretary Shavanah Taj. “But lots of Welsh workplaces aren’t unionised, and we’re very concerned that some of these won’t reopen safely.”

Wales TUC called for a national forum of social partners and relevant enforcement agencies. This would coordinate enforcement and share intelligence. It would also put in place resources on risk assessments and practices for employers and unions to ensure a better understanding of how to run a “Covid-19 secure” workplace.
