Jobless figures keep going up

Unemployment rose on both official counts. Under the Labour Force Survey (LFS) count it rose by 12,000 to 1.62 million in the three months to May against 1.61 million in the previous three months. The LFS count includes people not eligible for benefits.

Unemployment under the claimant count, which only includes those drawing Jobseeker’s Allowance, rose by 15,500 to 840,100 in June.
