Pensions count in pay bargaining

In an important legal development the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) has ruled that pensions are included in the legal definition of "pay".

The ruling is an important one for unions and means that where statutory recognition has been awarded and a procedural agreement for collective bargaining is being drawn up, the union can insist that it cover bargaining over pensions as well as other pay issues.
